Description
A tribe rider saying goodbye to his partner on horseback is seen beside a towering rock formation in a vast desert landscape, bathed in warm pastel hues. In the distance, a few small structures, possibly tents, are visible on the expansive terrain. This is a real place and the real history of the Wenatchi tribe. The Wenatchi people are Native Americans who traditionally lived near the confluence of the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers in Central Washington. Their language is a variant of Interior Salish. Historically, they relied on the abundant salmon runs in the Wenatchee River, along with other natural resources like starchy roots and berries, for their sustenance. The name "Wenatchi" is derived from the Yakama-Sahaptin language, reflecting their connections with neighboring tribes.
